The First Quarterly Housing Summit and Conference
Building Our Dreams
The first CAAHI Housing Summit was held in Culver City, California on February 18, 2005.
Entitled "Building Our Dreams", the summit was designed for individuals and organizations interested in affordable housing options for people with developmental disabilities.
An impressive gathering of community leaders shared information and ideas on home ownership strategies for the developmentally disabled population and toured a beautiful HUD 811 housing project in Santa Monica developed by United Cerebral Palsy.
This first summit was also the kick-off of the Dept. of Developmental Services Grant awarded to CAAHI in December 2004.
The Institute Receives a Major Grant:
The California Affordable Housing Institute is the proud recipient of a 3-year grant for a total of $300,000 awarded by the Dept. of Developmental Services to create a statewide Resource and Information Center that will offer one-stop resources and referrals for affordable housing options for people with developmental disabilities.
